How to bake an Apple Tart

Ingredients

 

For the tart (pate brisee)

250 g strong flour

2 eggs medium size

100 g butter

 ½ tablespoon salt

 

For the apple sauces

Juice of ½ lemon

100g caster sugar

Pinch of cinnamon

3 star anise

75g butter

 

It’s fall, and the leaves are starting to change colors. It’s the perfect time of year for some seriously delicious apple-themed treats! An apple tart is just the right treat for a pick me up afternoon tea. They’re simple to make, but they taste like you’ve spent hours in the kitchen. And they’re always a crowd-pleaser! The best part of making an apple tart is that it’s a great way to use up apples that are starting to get a little soft on you.

Method

For this delicious recipe with start by peeling and slicing your apples, add them into a bowl and drizzle them with lemon so they won’t go black. For the tart will do a pate brisee (pie dough) combine flour, butter on a stand mixer or hand one after mixing. Add the two eggs and mix them all together until you get a smooth dough. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and put in the refrigerator at least 15-20 minutes. Remove the dough and place it on a floured smooth surface. Roll the dough but try not to roll too thin.

Lift the dough up gently and place it on a tart pan or a pan of your liking. Let it settle in the pan, pushing it into all sides around. Place a piece of kitchen paper on top and weigh it down evenly with uncooked beans or rice. This is to prevent the pastry from puffing up during baking. Bake on a pre heated oven for 20 minutes at 170 degrees.

For the apple sauce, add the sugar into a pan and let it caramelized then add your butter star anise and cinnamon. Add your apple slice until they’re nice and coated. Then lay them out on top of your pastry dough in an even layer, bake it at 170 degrees for about 15-20 minutes (or until the apples are cooked to your liking). And there you have it easy peasy apple tart, enjoy!
